SIDEWALK PROGRAM FOR 2022

THE PROGRAM:
As stated in the Finance Committee Meeting, the City of Geneva’s 50/50 Sidewalk Program will receive
an increased appropriation of $15,000 with a change in the program implementation. Beginning in Spring
2022, the program will function as follows:

  • The property owner seeks three quotes from registered contractors of their choice and submits to the city (Street Department) for review
  • The City will inspect the job site and sign off for the project to proceed (or reject it)
  • If signed off on, the lowest and/or best quote is selected
  • The selected contractor is engaged by the property owner and authorized to complete the work to city specifications
  • Before work commences, property owner shall pay to the City (via certified check or money order) their ½ of the total project cost, which will be held in escrow until the project is completed
  • Upon completion of the work, the City will do a final inspection
  • Upon passing inspection, the City will forward total amount of the project owed directly to the
  • contractor

It is our intent to better promote the newly structured program as we want the funds to improve
sidewalks citywide. Any unused funds later in the year will be used for the designated purpose at the
discretion of the City.
